Powered by the REC.VC cloud service, the Recorder Bot enables meetings within a Space to easily and securely be recorded and shared with the members of the Space (e.g. anyone that couldn’t make the meeting or new team members).

These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. Step 1: Set up the Webex Teams connector. The first step is to gain access to the Data Connectors and set up the Webex Teams connector. Go to and then click Data connectors Webex Teams. On the Webex Teams product description page, click Add connector. On the Terms of service page, click Accept. Webex delivers pre-built integrations with the tools you use every day, such as Microsoft, Google, and Salesforce. Other integrations can be set up using the Webex App Hub to connect your teamwork with the work happening in tools such as ServiceNow, Trello, Asana, and Jira.

To use the Recorder Bot, you need an active REC.VC account with the same email address as your Webex Teams account. You can sign up for a free REC.VC trial at my.rec.vc.

To get started:

  • Add the Recorder Bot (rec@webex.bot) to any Space
  • Enter @Recorder help for instructions/menu on how to use the Recorder Bot
  • Any user with a REC.VC account (with matching email address) can use @Recorder to Start, Pause, Resume, and Stop recording sessions.
  • The playback link is posted to all Space members when starting the recording.

IMPORTANT PRIVACY NOTICES

The Recorder Bot securely captures and stores video, audio and content shared in the meeting. Both the communication between Webex Teams and REC.VC, as well as the recording itself, are encrypted in transit and in storage. By adding the bot to a Webex Teams space you confirm that all parties within the space explicitly consent to the content being recorded.

Any Webex Teams user with a REC.VC account (“User”), can use the Recorder Bot to start and stop recordings within any Space. The recording and all rights to it are fully owned by the User. Any member of a particular Space can ask the bot to list any recordings and play any recordings initiated by User(s) within the Space. The User may also share recordings via the REC.VC portal.

Users can at any point manually and permanently delete recordings via the REC.VC user interface. The entity subscribing to the REC.VC service (“Customer”), has the option to define a retention period for recordings for their own Users, e.g. that recordings are to be automatically deleted after X days. Unless this option is activated, the recordings will be stored with REC.VC as long as the Customer has an active contract. Recordings will automatically be deleted 3 months after the end of the contract, or upon request all recordings can be immediately deleted.

When signing up for the service the User can choose to have recordings processed and stored in one of our multi-tenant cloud locations in Ashburn, VA, USA, Frankfurt, Germany or Oslo, Norway, each has separate data centers for production and backup.

This article provides instructions for connecting Microsoft Cloud App Security to your existing Cisco Webex account using the connector APIs. This connection gives you visibility into and control over Webex users, activities, and files. For information about how Cloud App Security protects Cisco Webex Teams, see Protect Cisco Webex Teams.

Prerequisites

  • We suggest that you create a dedicated service account for the connection. This enables you to see that governance actions performed in Webex as being performed from this account, such as delete messages sent in Webex. Otherwise, the name of the admin who connected Cloud App Security to Webex will appear as the user who performed the actions.

  • You must have Full Administrator and Compliance Officer roles in Webex (under Roles and Security > Administrator Roles).

How to connect Webex to Cloud App Security

  1. In the Cloud App Security console, click Investigate and then Connected apps.

  2. In the App connectors page, click the plus button followed by Cisco Webex.

  3. In the pop-up, enter the instance name of this connector.

  4. Click Connect Cisco Webex. The Webex sign in page opens. Enter your credentials to allow Cloud App Security access to your team's Webex instance.

  5. Webex asks you if you want to allow Cloud App Security access to your team information, activity log, and perform activities as a team member. To proceed, click Allow.

  6. Back in the Cloud App Security console, you should receive a message that Webex was successfully connected.

  7. Make sure the connection succeeded by clicking Test API.

    Testing may take a couple of minutes. After you receive a success notice, click Close.

After connecting Webex, you'll receive events for 7 days prior to connection. Cloud App Security scans events over the past three months. To increase this, you must have a Cisco Webex pro license and open a ticket with Cloud App Security support.
